Fire Marshal David Harmon is a lifelong resident of the West Georgia area and is a graduate of Heard County High School. Fire Marshal Harmon is an accomplished fire service professional with more than 20 years of experience working through the ranks from Firefighter to Battalion Chief. Shortly after high school, Mr. Harmon joined Carroll County Fire Rescue as a Volunteer Firefighter and soon thereafter was hired as a full-time firefighter.
Fire Marshal Harmon has earned certifications in varying aspects of the fire service from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center and the National Fire Academy. He has completed numerous training programs and courses throughout his career and holds several certifications, including National Registry Emergency Medical Technician, NPQ Fire & Life Safety Educator, NPQ Fire Investigator, NPQ Fire Inspector, and is a Certified Peace Officer in the State of Georgia.
In 2019, Mr. Harmon gained his National and State certifications in Fire Investigation and Fire Inspection. Fire Marshal Harmon was the Lead Investigator on more than 80 fire scenes during his time as a Battalion Chief in the Operations Division before being promoted to Fire Marshal. Mr. Harmon has over 4,100 training hours in his fire service career, of which over 200 were fire investigation training and over 300 were fire control and behavior training.
Fire Marshal Harmon is an active member of several professional organizations, including International Association of Arson Investigators, Georgia Public Safety Fire Investigators Association, Georgia Fire Inspectors Association, and Georgia Gang Investigators Association.
